Following heavy snowfalls, the temperature dropped to –20 C (-4 F) on 12 December. This sudden drop in temperature ranging over 20 C (68 F) on the same day caused some vines to freeze, particularly in the lower areas of the hillside. In spring during the early growing season the vines hit by frost appeared to have died. It is difficult to establish a figure for the area affected because growth has started again on some vines. One has to let the sap start flowing again naturally.
